Eighth time in a row IAAF awarded Vidovdan Road Race Brčko with an IAAF label which makes this race unique in this part of Europe. On that occasion in the Brčko town hall Race director Borislav Đurđević handed over to mayor Siniša Milić an IAAF certificate of confirmation that this athletic event is a part of World Athletic Series.
“It is my pleasure to be one of the few mayors from this part of Europe who has a privilege to keep in his cabinet this certificate of quality from IAAF. Thanks to it, we as a town have a brand which makes us recognizable throughout the world. I am sure that the quality of Vidovdan Road Race will be improved even further in regards of results but also in regards of promotion of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina and athletics overall”, said the mayor Siniša Milić.
Borislav Đurđević, „Vidovdan Road Race“ director, pointed out that this great recognition creates a great obligation for the organizers to justify expectations but it also brings a pride to Brčko.
„Credits for this great recognition go to the whole town, public services and public companies who are participating in organization and who are always available to us and that’s why this recognition doesn’t belong just to the Race but to the whole town”, Đurđević added.
Certificate replicas were, in presence of guests from regional athletic federations, handed over to representatives of Republic of Srpska government’s Ministry of family, youth and sports and to the Cabinet of President of Republic of Srpska which were patrons of this event for 22 years. Certificates were given to the Police of Brčko District and will later be given to public companies „Putevi Brčko“ and „Komunalno Brčko“ as well as Districts public health.
At the press conference Đurđević pointed out that these IAAF and EAA certificate replicas were given to institutions who gave a large contribution in achieving this great result but they also represent a reminder that this year we all have to invest all of our energy to defend this status so we can prove our worth and win a label for 2019. “it will be hard. Exceptionally hard because criteria is far more strict than before – but we have a great advantage: There are no unknown subjects, we have a young, motivated and highly professional team, an army of volunteers and a great number of friends and partners not only in Brčko but in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina and they all want to give their contribution” – Vidovdan Road Race director pointed out.
